Maybe it’s the rain, or the taps, but this time I feel like I really got the romance of the memorial to a 22-year-old pilot, crashed on a goodwill mission in an unlikely place, and also the odd romance of how it’s become this enduring symbol of the ties between the two nations. Maybe it kinda works because the two nations have never been entirely easy with each other? I really loved your first photo especially and you captured the mood so well here in the text & pics.
