What is it about species names? Reading each one brings me deeper into connection with where your are, that particular slice of the world. I don’t have a particular place myself but I’ve always wanted one -- I guess there’s Capitol Hill and I do love the house sparrows but it’s not quite the same as being out in the woods.
Oh you know what — maybe Huntley Meadows out in VA is it for me. I was thinking that Kingman Island would’ve been it but then … you know I got beat up there so that kind of took it out of the running. 🤦♀️ But this reminds me to make it out to Huntley again.
I love all this. Especially the zoom tube! I keep one on my desk and with me on my porch sits. I call it my spy glass!
I witnessed a very disturbing take-down of a robin by either a Cooper's or sharp-shinned hawk just a couple days ago from the window beside my desk. I won't detail it here but man ... sometimes it's hard to reconcile that predators, like us, need to eat.
I love this too knowing a place I walk in all seasons… Thanks for sharing yours ❤️I’m also a fan of Merlin I put it on my back porch and then feed the birds and have a cup of coffee with them
Thank you for sharing your place. 💞 And I do have one, more than one, but if I start going on about them I might never stop! Creeks and rivers in particular, the oldest and best friends.

It's tough finding a place in a city. But maybe you will.

I'm sorry they took that from you. Huntley Meadows looks nice.

Yeah, I'm reminded every time I gnaw into a chicken thigh and get gristle, that maybe I'm a herbivore

That's lovely! I'm in my hammock reading a book and listening to the birds.
It is *such* a good feeling to be part of a place! Thanks for this beautiful peek into yours ❤️
Thank you!

It's always water. Walden Pond, Tinker Creek, Mystic River, Loon Lake, Blue Lagoon, Eve's bayou....
Shit Creek.
with a turd for a paddle...
I looked for both "paddle" and "oar" in the emojis for my post and no luck.
But there's always 💩
It's life ...
