I minored in anthropology, so I totally agree with your frustrations about how "evolution" is (mis)understood in popular discourse...and don't even talk to me about that "23 & Me" scam 🤬
More pleasantly, I'm glad you're enjoying the Calvino. I found "Invisible Cities" gimmicky and pretentious, but I *LOVED* "The Baron in The Trees"
That's two people who didn't like Invisible Cities! I think I want to read his ancestors trilogy first, which includes Baron, plus Nonexistent Knight and another one... I'll probably pick up Italian Folktales when I find one, as well.
WWIII almost erupted at Thanksgiving one year over the playing of "Alice's Restaurant" (I was pro-Alice). I'm going to make sure that we play it tomorrow in honor of Alice Brock.
Great shots of that Hairy! Clearly captures the white outer tail feathers. And great line: "the enemy wants you miserable. The birds want you to be happy."
I’d completely forgotten about Bedknobs and Broomsticks! I used to watch that late at night at my grandmother’s house, because she had cable and I usually slept on the couch when visiting, so could sneak-watch TV after she went to bed. Whew, that brings back some memories.
I only saw it for the first time a few weeks ago. As a former President opined, we were more like The Simpsons and less like The Waltons. Disney was corny. I was watching HBO by that age.

I play it alone in the morning before I go visit the fam.

Thanks for dropping in, and thanks for the handy ID guide for these birds!
