"Take a look at her post about our trip and see the fantastic photos she took! Then come back and look at my crap, out of pity:"
I think ALL wildlife photos are wonderful. Especially when you think about the photographer's experience in the moment. Two friends enjoying being there and bearing witness.
Hannah's photos are full of wonder and so are yours.
We had a good time. I'm glad you enjoy the photos. I try to capture the moment while being in it. Erich Fromm wrote about how vacationers only see things through their cameras, how the lens alienates us from our environment, and it stuck with me. That's why I like the GoPro, I can take video while watching.
It was such a delight hanging out with you & the eagles -- and the vinyl-hungry vultures? What the hell is that about? Thanks for solving that mystery. You sure got a close up with that one eagle, and I also really like the pic where you see the sunlight through the white tail. So pretty.
Looking forward to hearing about the return of the pachyderm.
Oh, and you’re totally right about the waitress -- all we were missing was a “hun”. 😁
I hope we can do this again. I actually drove past natural Bridge yesterday but we didn't stop. Maybe on the way home. I drove out to Judaculla Rock this morning, that'll be a future post.
I had never heard of Judaculla Rock, and it's so cool! For some reason, I always think petroglyphs are going to be ... I dunno, in hallowed areas, with velvet ropes and long lines, and people whispering "look, they're communicating with us from thousands of years in the past," and then I'm a little shocked when it's just a rock in a field that no one pays much attention to.
But yes, we should do it again. Hope you're still enjoying the trip -- I saw your pic from Ashville and it looks gorgeous. :)
Beautiful pics. Sounds like such a lovely day. I'm neither fox nor hedgehog tho.
The sky is so beautiful in the videos! 😍 (and now I'm craving french fries!)
Thank you! We ate those crab fries for days.

That's the feeling I got. I didn't touch the rock. I wanted to.
